Israel Trips and More – What a Start to 2016!
20 of our students teamed up with 70+ students from across the country on various Aish trips to learn to stand proud for Israel on campus and understand what it means to be Jewish. Here are some highlights…
Hasbara New England
Our Hasbara New England Fellows have all returned with newfound ability and lots of energy to advocate for Israel in many ways. They met with activists, politicians, journalists, historians, IDF security experts and Knesset members to deepen their understanding of the complexities of the issues Israel faces. The students had a chance to show solidarity with the people of Israel. They also visited some of Israel’s incredible Human Rights organizations, met with hi tech industry leaders, and got strategic tours of the borders. The trip was jam packed with lessons to impact the discourse on campus.
Stay tuned throughout the semester for updates on all of their activities.
The Aish4AEPi program was also a huge success that took us from Jerusalem to Tzfat, Hebron, Sderot and other exciting places.
We packed food for the needy, visited beleaguered communities, and gave out care packages to IDF soldiers stationed in dangerous areas.
We learned about Judaism in a variety of ways and everyone grew tremendously from the program. We also did cool activities like hiking, paint balling, krav maga, counter terrorism training with live fire, and went to the Dead Sea, amongst other things.
For many of the guys it was their first time in Israel, first time learning about Judaism, and the first time stretching their limits on many of our activities. A couple of the students wrapped Tefilin for the first time in their lives, one at the Western Wall, and one in the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. These were awe-inspiring events and the guys received the Bar Mitzvah treatment from their AEPI buddies getting lifted in a chair to a hearty mazel tov u siman tov!
JEWEL for Women
As a great follow up to being involved in our pro Israel activities students typically want to learn more about our heritage. One of our students just returned from participation on the JEWEL for Women winter Israel experience and loved it! Here’s what she had to say:
“Before I came to Jewel I had very little connection with my Jewish heritage. This program has inspired me to ask questions and to continue my Jewish learning journey…my journey of self-discovery.”
It’s been a great start to 2016 and we are looking forward to a great year ahead! Programs, Shabbas dinners, pro Israel activism, bro time, and much more! It’s going to be a great year ahead! If you care about the Jewish future make sure to continue your support for Aish Boston and our students. Thank you!!
